So we are heading into our last weekend of Greatest Week Ever 2007 and I have been so busy I haven’t been able to keep up on writing daily entries about what we have done. I will be working over the next couple weeks to write about what we did, but I figured some pictures should hold everyone over for now.

Greatest Week Ever is off and running and I am already worn out.  I want to remind everyone that as a member you have the ability to make posts, so feel free to blog about the events (I will be doing so soon).   I wanted to put something out there on the hole that is Thursday/Friday that currently exists in our schedule.  The two events that will fill that hole are sledding and ice skating, the only question is what event will fall where.  Right now that is being held up by if Afton Alps will have tubing ready by the end of the week (so we could do sledding there, where there is a lift).  I will fill in the details when I know them.

I realize the schedule is a bit late coming out, and I wanted to give everyone an idea of what I am thinking and why..

Friday 12/7
Right now I have Golden Compass tomorrow (on Roch-Group), however I learned that Andy and Darcy won’t be able to make it anyway, so there is no reason to do it Friday, so I think this will move into next week. Completely unrelated to GWE I noticed the Beowolf is showing in 3D at Galaxy finally, so I may organize a viewing of that for Friday.

Saturday 12/8
The current plan is Christmas Spirit Party (seemed like a good one to start with). This has the added benefit of allowing us to ease into GWE.

Sunday 12/9
Trip to the Cities for Christmas Shopping, Holidazzle Parade, and Macy’s Display

Monday 12/10
Golden Compass Moves here

Tuesday 12/11
Sledding…I am looking to see if Afton Alps will have their snow tubing open by then..if so we will do that. If not, we will do something local.

Wednesday 12/12
See the play Inspecting Carol in Lanesboro. I picture this as catching some dinner before the show and maybe touring Lanesboro at Christmas a bit (I’ve never been there in the winter)

Thursday 12/13
Fogo de Chão. We will make a special trip up to the cities to experience this. Trust me, it is expensive enough to warrant exclusivity.

Friday 12/14
This one is still up in the air…It should be something Local and not run too late so people can rest u p for the weekend. I am open to suggestions. I was thinking maybe ice skating and Dun Brothers?

Saturday 12/15 - Sunday 12/16
Dells Trip, make sure you sign up for this on Roch-Group if you are interested. The trip will involve indoor waterpark, shoppiong, unique dining, maybe a hypnotist show I have heard good things about, and for those who choose skiing and/or gambling. The schedule will get more flushed out later this weekend, but if you are interested and can commit to the hotel SIGN UP NOW!

That is what I got, I am looking for opinions, feel free to comment at will, and start looking for Roch-Group invites very soon (as I finish making some calls).

As we come to the week before the Greatest Week Ever, it will soon be decision time. I encourage everyone to look at the Ideas… post and make any new suggestions or just start thinking about what events you would enjoy.  We will start the next phase of planning Monday or Tuesday of next week.

If you are waiting for your registration confirmation email still, I apologize.  My hosting company (Dreamhost) is experiencing a problem getting email through to the GMail servers.  They are getting through but they are taking up to 40 hours in some cases.  If you have signed up, I have the ability to set your password manually and get you logged in (you can then go back and change your password to whatever you want).  Please let me know (by email or IM) if you would like me to get it setup for you so we can start planning!

I would like to use this post to collect ideas, any ideas you have submit them as comments. It is always better to be specific then general, i.e. if there is a place and time to do the event point that out, if there is a link related to the event include that. We will start voting on ideas after this week, so time is of the essence.

For this year’s Greatest Week Ever site I decided to go a little more free form. This blog will serve as a place to exchange ideas and plan events, and we will use the Roch-Group Calendar to schedule the events. We have much to plan and not much time to plan it, for this to work we need to have our plans finalized next week, and the Greatest Week Ever will take place from December 8th to the 16th (If time becomes an issue maybe we cut one of the weekends). There is currently open Registration (Click the “Register” link under the “Meta” section to the left) which will give you some basic site access, provided I recognize your email from Roch-Group I will bump up your access to be able to post blog entries. I encourage everyone to post as much as you can, but keep in mind that we are the only ones that can write, but everyone can see what we post.

Update: Dreamhost is currently having an issue sending email to GMail, they will get there, it will just be slow. If you sign up please use a non-gmail email account (you can change it after you login). If you have already signed up and want me to get you into your account let me know and I can assign you a temp password. Info on the slowdown here.
